A German battle axe, 1st half of the 17th century. Semi-circular, somewhat damaged, axe blade with a heavy quadrangular chiselled spike. There is a belt hook, restored in places, on the right side. The massive, riveted iron shaft has a twisted end. The grip has a cloverleaf shaped, perforated guard plate and a chiselled spiral pommel. Iron grip cover with braided ferrules.
