Follow the latest news and information about DEFENDER-Europe 21, visit “I am in Albania providing role 1 coverage to the soldiers here in Kucove Air Base,” said Carnes. Role 1 medical coverage also known as unit-level medical care is essential to a small unit, and includes the capabilities for providing first aid, immediate lifesaving measures, and triage. Carnes joined the Army straight out of high school in 2019, and although he is based out of Germany this is his first time in Albania and while here, he is keeping his skills sharp while enjoying the country. “I learned more about being resilient and am learning how to operate without a few things.” said Carnes. “I am grateful for the beautiful mountains that surround us.”
