Checking for nuclear contamination, with a geiger counter, on the beach beside Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, which suffered damage during an earthquake, in Kashiwazaki, Japan, Friday, July 20th 2007. An earthquake occurred 10 km out to sea on the coast beside Kashiwazaki, on Monday July 16th, causing damage in the town and the deaths of 10 people. The Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Plant also suffered damage, resulting in leaks of nuclear materials, as announced by the operating company TEPCO.
