Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy. The Karst Plateau by Trieste. Mount Hermada (Grmada in Slovenian) is a low hill on the boundary between Italy and Slovenia. In the course of the WWI, it was an inexpugnable bulwark of the Austro-Hungarian Army, that defended Trieste from its top. the traces of the Cold War, that characterize all the boundary with ex-Jugoslavia. The picture shows a cement basement that was the pavement of a border police-hut.
