This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product Martian erosion features. Mars Express view of dendritic (branching) erosion features (darker lines, centre and lower left) on Mars. North is at left. Several small impact craters are seen, and the eroded eastern rim of the large impact crater Huygens is along bottom. The erosion features were probably caused by running water. Darker material was then deposited in the eroded valleys. The area seen here is over 200 kilometres across. Data from the High Resolution Stereo Camera. Mars Express has been orbiting Mars since December 2003.
