Police in Lahore Pakistan flash the victory sign after mass protests led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The population of Lahore, Pakistan came out in mass protests to support Pakistani Opposition leader Nawaz Sharif who was put under house arrest and then defied the order of Prime Minister Asif Ali Zadari to lead mass protestors to Islamabad. Police had earlier fired tear gas into the crowd in an attempt to break up the demonstration and afterwards joined in the celebration. Months earlier Zadari had sacked the judicary and he capitulated and ordered the re-instatment of chief justice Iftikar Chaudhry.
