Hewas well and widely known in the community in which he wasborn and spent the years of his life. He was a large-hearted,philanthropic man, and was honored with many positions of trust. From the time of the organization of the Regimental Associa-tion, he was an active participant in all its afifairs, and ever hadits best interests at heart, and at the time of his death, December19, 1895, he was vice-president of the Association and a memberof the Committee to Devise Means for
