Young llamas (Lama glama). The llama at right is in the cross-feet position. The llama ages and sizes ranges from cria (baby llama, right) to weanling (an animal that has just been weaned, left). Llamas, one of four main species of camelids found in South America, are used as beasts of burden. These llamas are on the bank of a river at an elevation of 4500 metres in the Altiplano region of northern Chile.
