Essentially marinefishes, the rock cod enter the estuaries to preyon other fishes. They are found all round thecoasts and erow to an enormous size. I haveseen them over 150 lbs. in weight, being brought immenseashore by natives, having been caught by hookand line ; but for the angler they averagebetween 8 and 50 lbs.
