The tsunami-hit zone of Minami-Soma town, in Tohoku, Japan. Minami-Soma was hit by the tsunami on March 11th 2011.

Three farmers- Yoshio Ikeda (65yrs, black hat, no glasses), Ishizuki Masatsugu (65yrs, glasses) and Tanabe Kazuo (68yrs, baseball cap), stand near large banner-like fish known as 'Koi Nobori' which have been erected near the coast to try to lure wandering ghosts or spirits back from the sea, near the area where their houses were swept away by the March 11th 2011 tsunami, in Kayahama district of Minami-Soma, Japan, on Monday 6 February 2012. .The 'Koi Nobori' are usually erected to bring good fortune to the boys of the house, on children's day each year, but in this case the villagers are using them to try to guide wandering spirits and ghosts, of those who died in the tsunami, back to the land.
