The San Joaquin Floral Co., of this city, has opened a new, up-to-date store on Sutter street. This firm also has enlarged its nursery by leasing several adjoining lots. Mr. Star, the manager, has purchased a fine delivery automo- bile and also a car for his private use. The San Francisco Floral Co. has opened a store on East Main street. F. Mindach, heretofore a gardener in one of the city parks, has been ap- pointed head gardener of the park system. S. & D. SEATTLE, WASH. The Market. Business has been fair for the last week. Carnations of-good quality are selling well, as there are none too many of these coming in. Some stock of poor quality, however, is hardly salable. The only harm it does is to militate against the price of good flowers. It is about time for some discrimination to be shown in the prices of carnations charged by the growers. At present the prices run the same for good and poor stock. Of course the grower with good flowers can nearly always sell his, while it is sometimes hard to dispose of poor flowers. Roses are fairly plentiful, some first-class local stock selling well. Vio- lets are almost over for the season and bulb stock is getting scarce. The sale for bedding plants is brisk. Geraniums are not overplentiful this year and good plants are bringing fair prices. Pansies, daisies, myosotis, etc., are selling for less than in former years. T. W. SAN FRANCISCO. The Market.
