Rock Cut caves and Cave Entrance view in udayagiri Hills Orissa India


Udayagiri Cave Tiger ( Bagh Gumpha ) Side Angle view and Overview of Udayagiri Hills and Huge boulders strewn around the hill. There are number of finely and ornately carved caves. It is believed that most of these caves were carved out as residential blocks for Jain monks during the reign of King Kharavela. Udayagiri means "Sunrise Hill" and has 18 caves while Khandagiri has 15 caves. Rock cut Caves of Archaeological and Historical Significance in Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves are Protected and Maintained by Archaeological survey of India.
