Sunday 12th July 2020. The River Thames, near Gravesend, UK. MARITIME HERITAGE SOLD It has been reported that a Dunkirk “Little Ship” part of the UK’s maritime heritage has been sold for £40,000. M/Y Sundowner is one of the famous fleet of “Little Ships” that took part in the evacuation of Allied troops from the Dunkirk’s beaches in 1940. The motor yacht was once owned by the Titanic’s Second Officer Charles Lightoller who was the most senior officer to survive the sinking of the ocean liner in 1912. The Sundowner is pictured on the Thames sailing to Chertsey from Ramsgate, to undergo a full renovation.
