As seen fromIttibloo, and in fact from any point until well withinthe bay, this mountain is apparently its head. Justto the left of it, however, a contracted passage permits 462 Northward over the Great Ice farther progress, and, once through these narrows, along, narrow, river-hke stretch of water opens up,completely land-locked, with low, rolling, grassyshores, on either side rising gradually to the bordersof the ice-cap a few miles distant.
