Genetic research. Conceptual computer artwork of monitors showing different areas in genetic research. The coloured strips are chromosomes, condensed units of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). The orange helical structure at bottom right is a molecule of DNA. DNA is split into sections called genes, which encode the body's genetic information. Genes determine every cell's structure, function and behaviour. The dots at bottom left represent a proteomic microarray, a technique used to show the interactions of proteins. There are also foetuses at right, which could represent human cloning. Top right are autoradiograms, used to determine DNA sequences.
