Loyola died July 31, 1556, at the age of sixty-five years. He was canon-ized in 1622, by Gregory XV. Loyola was of middle stature, of an olive complexion,with a bald head, eyes full of fire, and an aquelirie nose. As Luiher was the reformerof the sixteenth century, so was Loyola the evangelist thereof.
