The ruins of Santa Carolina Hotel in the Bazaruto Archipelago Mozambique


The ruins of the Santa Carolina Hotel on Santa Carolina "Paradise" Island in The Bazruto Archipelago of Mozambique The hotel was built in1952 by Portuguese entrepreneur Joaquim Alves and occupied the whole island which has some of the best beaches in the archipelago. Access was either by sea or air, the island having its own airstrip, and it quickly became famous for luxury weddings. Bob Dylan reputedly wrote the lyrics to "Mozambique" at the hotel' piano. After being used as a prison camp in the Mozambithe ruin it is today.
