His next occupation was that of messenger inMr. Taylors office, after which he became, successively, clerk and sales-man, and before reaching the age of twenty-one was manager of theentire business. When in 1863 the firm became Henry Taylor & Company,he was made a partner, and in 1870 the business received its present nameof The Baltimore News Company. Mr. Abercrombie was made treasurerof the company and has for years been its manager and cashier. In hisprogress from a humble beginning to his present position he has abundantly.
