Brain haemorrhage following fall. Coloured computed tomography (CT) scans of sections through the brain of a 68-year-old patient with an acute subdural haematoma (dense white areas) after falling down a staircase. A haematoma is a localised collection of blood outside of the blood vessels. Subdural haematomas are a form of haematoma where blood collects between the brain and the dura mater - the outermost of the three meninges membranes that surround the brain. They are usually associated with traumatic brain injury.
