The Theatre, Priene, Turkey

One of the best preserved theatres in the Aegean region, located about 40km from Miletos and about 80km from Ephesus. Above the theatre is the Acropolis which gives the theatre a perfect setting, looking forward is the view over the vallet towards Miletos. The city is built on a grid system and was known as the Pompeii of Anatolia. The theatre was built during the Hellenistic period and the alterations made by the Romans did little to affect the character and integrity of the building. Only the bottom rows of seats remain today and still evident are the five special seats for VIP's.
