US Navy Lighthouse Tender Amaranth, attached to the 11th lighthouse District covering Lakes Superior and Juron during World War One. This tender was transferred to the Navy Department by order of the President on April 11, 1917, and then transferred to the 9th Naval District. It is a single issed screw steamer with a steel hull, measuring 166' in length and with a 975 ton displacement. The vessel has 672 horsepower and a crew of 5 officers and 20 men.
