The statue of Captain James Cook in Greenwich, England. The Yorkshireman is famed for his three Voyages of Discovery in the late eighteenth century. Cook's Voyages took place from 1768-1771, 1772-1775 and 1776-1780. Cook died during the third of these, at Hawaii in 1779.
