Coanda Effect. Wine bottle on its side with water being poured onto it. The water flows round the bottle rather than just running off it. This demonstrates what is known as the Coanda Effect, where flowing liquid sticks to a curved surface. The principle was named after Henri Marie Coanda (1886-1972), who was the first person to recognize the practical application of the phenomenon in aircraft development.
