Jean Pasteels (1906-1991), Belgian cell biologist and embryologist. Pasteels spent his career at the University of Brussels, Belgium, becoming Director of the Department of Human Anatomy and Embryology in 1963. He is best known for his work on gastrulation (the embryonic formation of germ layers) in reptiles and birds.
