AUTOMOBILE TRUCK FOR CARRY IN STREET CLEANING AND REFUSE COLLECTION IN BALTIMORE Machine Cleaning Done at Night-Business District Patr oiled-Ten Street Cleaning and Four Refuse CollectionDistricts-Motor Truck and Scows for Removing Garbage-Quantities and Unit Costs. The street cleaning department of Baltimore is anefficient and well-organized body. At a remarkably lowcost it cleans the streets, collects garbage, ashes andwaste, cleans the catch basins and takes entire charge ofthe public markets. W. H. Larkin and J. T. Doonanare commissioner and deputy, respectively, but much ofthe work falls on J. T. OConnor and J. H. Callahan,who act as general superintendents of the garbage andstreet cleaning divisions. In order to facilitate the work of keeping the streetsclean, the entire street area is divided into ten districts,each having its own force of men.
