A percussion salon pistol, Gilles Mariette, Liège, dated 1857. Reblued fluted smooth bore barrel in 6 mm calibre, converted to percussion. Dovetailed sights. Gold-inlaid decorative vines on the muzzle and breech with a ducal coronet over an alloy monogram "WM"(?) and signed "G. Mariette a Liege 1857". Carved walnut stock with engraved brass inlays on the sides and chiselled iron furniture. Length 38 cm. In a leather covered, wooden case stamped with another golden monogram on the lid.
