I should like to ask a question on hot water heatinj;. How many 1^-inch pipes will be needed in a house 20x100, with a shed at the «ast end and a show house at the west front? Will two 2-inch mains be sufficient to supply the rest of the pipes? Which system would give the better results, with the boiler set in a "pit or on the level ground? What size of pipe would you recom- mend, 1-inch or 1^-inch? I could use either size. K. H. For a house of the size mentioned it will be best to tise an open tank sys- tem, with the heater in a cellar or pit. Use 21/^-inch pipe for thie flows and 2-inch for the returns. Of the former, three will be required, one of which can be upon each wall plate and the other under the ridge. For the returns, use three coils of three pipes each,.
