At the municipally-run Addiction Treatment Center in Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, drug addicts engage in group therapy.
The municipally-run Addiction Treatment Center in Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, a working class suburb of Mexico City, is the only government financed facility for drug addicts in this city of some million people. It provides detoxification treatment on both an in-patient and out-patient basis at no cost for residents of the city. At a weekly communication session, residents undergoing treatment are encouraged to express their feelings and concerns about their addiction in a group setting.
