The jack up barge, Goliaht being used to construct the Walney offshore wind farm.


The jack up barge, Goliath, loaded with transition pieces for the Walney Offshore windfarm project, off Barrow in Furness, Cumbria, UK, is towed out into the Walney channel by a high powered tug during a torrential rain shower. When finished it will have 102, MW turbines, giving a total capacity of the Walney project of MW, enough to power 320,000 homes. The rotor diameter of the turbines is 107m for Walney 1 and 120 m for Walney 2. The wind farm is owned and constructed by Dong Energy.
