Christchurch Sailing Club members’ cruiser yachts are all craned out in one day using Elkins boatyard crane and crew assisted by members of the club. 60 yachts are craned out onto the club hard displacing the dingy fleets where they remain until the beginning of is a vey fast efficient system based on years of experience enabling a large number of boats to be lifted and placed on chocks or cradles for the winter. Christchurch Sailing Club members’ cruiser yachts are all craned out in one day using Elkins boatyard crane and crew assisted by members of the club. 60 yachts are craned out onto the club hard displacing the dingy fleets where they remain until the beginning of is a vey fast efficient system based on years of experience enabling a large number of boats to be lifted and placed on chocks or cradles for the winter. It has to be achieved at a spring tide to allow sufficient time and water in this shallow harbour. Craning out begins at 7:30am and is completed by 2:00pm. Tired workers then head for the bar for a well earned drink and rest.
