Japanese-American Friendship Bell in Oak Ridge, Tennessee
Oak Ridge, Tennessee - The Oak Ridge International Friendship Bell. The bell was hung in Bissell Park during the city's 50th anniversary celebration as a symbol of friendship and peace with Japan. Oak Ridge was established during World War II to produce weapons-grade uranium that was used in the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
