The main entrance in the northfacade presents an arcade of five bays, themassive ]jiers of whicli are higldy ornate. The Palace of Machinery presentson each side an entirely dissimilar designand contour, and this is owing to thearchitects plan of departing from the rec-tangular shapes adopted in the otherexhibit jialaces in the main picture. Thusthe building possesses a diversity of archi-tectural features not accorded to any of theother great buildings. Tlie Palace of Transportation is 1,300 feetlong by 525 feet wide, and covers over fif-teen acres. It cost more than $700, facades show an admirable adaptionof the French Renaissance style of archi-tecture. On the east and west fronts aretliree enormous arches, taking up more thanone-half the entire facade. Each arch issixty-four feet wide and fifty-two feet decoration is found principally in theimpressive massing of large details, an
