Kathmandu Durbar Square is a historically and culturally significant site in Nepal, and is one of the three royal palace squares in the Kathmandu Valley that are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Kasthamandap is said to have given the city of Kathmandu its name and the pavilion is also considered the oldest-known wooden building in Nepal.
