Protein and RNA The protein content of these cells does not form a constant fraction of cellular mass. As the incubation temperature is changed, the protein fraction ranges between 20% to 30% of the total mass. However, the protein content in both cells changes in the same direction as total mass, being much increased at lower temperatures.
