1921 image of Pauline Chase, born Ellen Pauline Matthew Bliss, (1885-1962) as Columbine in J M Barrie's 'Pantaloon' (1905). She was an American actress who also played on stage in Britain. She began acting at the age of 15. She played one of the Lost Boys in the debut of Peter Pan in London in 1904. She was selected by producer Charles Frohman and playwright J. M. Barrie for the title role in Peter Pan which she played from 1906 to 1913 when she left to marry banker Captain Alexander Victor Drummond. She reportedly had an affair with explorer Robert Falcon Scott whilst he was still single.
