Digitised fingerprint records: computer equipment used by French police forces to digitise paper copies of criminals' fingerprint records. Here, a single fingerprint on a paper record is magnified through the lens of the digitising scanner, whilst the digitised image of the same fingerprint appears on screen. The system permits detailed comparison & possible matching of records taken from a scene of the crime with existing records on file.
