A project partnership agreement was signed to enable the Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District to proceed with plans for a flood damage reduction project on this portion of the Cuyahoga River in Independence, Ohio on September 26, 2021. The Buffalo District and the City of Independence are sharing the cost of an $8 million project to reduce the risk of damage from continual overbank flooding along the river and protect more than 52 acres of residential and business properties in the city.
