Japan’s Festival of Happiness is celebrated in honour of the Chrysanthemum with its yellow flowers symbolising sun and light - immortality.

Shinsho-ji in Narita was founded in 940 to commemorate the suppression of a revolt by Kanto samurai. A visit merits many hours and is well worth the short train ride from the airport.
