Bulbous, spring-blooming perennials, they are fragrant flowering plants in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily native to the area of the eastern Mediterranean from the south of Turkey through to the northern part of Israel. This artwork for Robert John Thornton's "The Temple of Flora" in 1807, was printed, for the publisher, by T. Bensley, London, England.
