Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a form of herpes zoster (shingles) where the varicella-zoster virus (also the cause of chickenpox) damages facial nerves and can cause paralysis. He underwent a canthopexy, where the sagging lower eyelid, caused by nerve damage, was pulled up and tightened. For a sequence showing this procedure, see images M570/178 - M570/183.
