He was born atBloomington, Ind., November 25, 1836; was a graduate ofDe Pauw University in the class of 1859 ; by profession alawyer. He was district attorney of Santa Clara county Calin the year 1861 and was clerk of Brown county, Ind., in 1864and 1865. He enlisted in the Union Army as First LieutenantCo. K, 145th Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry. Dur-ing the latter part of the service he was aide-de-camp on thestaff of Brig. Gen. Adams. During 1882-3-4, he was jour-nalist on Jacksonian Democrat of Brown county, Ind andOwen County Journal of Spencer, Ind. Now a resident ofGresham, Oregon. HESTER FAMILY. 105
