This new variety is a decided improvement on the Red Squash or Tomato-shaped Pepper, which it will probably entirely supersede. It originated with a market gardener in Massachusetts, where the fruits have had quick sale on market. The illustration above, engraved from an average specimen taken from our trial grounds, reduced in size, shows the shape of the fruit and the remarkable thickness of the tlesh,—being much thicker than any of the old varieties : the fruit is also smoother, more round, and milder in flavor. The leaves are of a light green color, tender, crisp, and free from bitterness. Per pkt. 10 cts. : 3 pkts. for 25 cts. BUTTERCUP LETTUCE. It forms very solid heads, is quite as early as the Golden Stonehead, while its bright,citron-colored foliage renders it perfectly distinct from all existing Cabbag
