A Hunter’s Bag on a Terrace. In 1674 William III commissioned the construction of a new hunting lodge, Soestdijk, which was completed a mere four years later. Hondecoeter painted two grand hunting still lifes to be set in two arched niches in the entrance hall. The orange tree in the largegarden vase alludes to the House of Orange. The park is populated by all kinds of birds, including peacocks and a turkey.
