Ectopic pregnancy. Artwork of the uterus and fallopian tubes showing locations of ectopic pregnancy. An ectopic pregnancy is any fertilized egg that develops outside the uterus. The most common location for an ectopic pregnancy is the fallopian tubes (two in tube at upper right) but other locations are possible. An ectopic pregnancy has occurred in the ovary (egg-shaped) at right with another (below) in the abdominal cavity. Fertilized eggs are also in the muscular wall (upper centre) surrounding the uterus (blue triangular-shaped) and in the uterus neck (cervix) at lower centre. The vagina is at bottom centre.
