GAIBANDHA, BANGLADESH - FEBRUARY 23 : Women processing and drying red chilli uner sun near Jamuna river 240 kms north-west of Dhaka in Gaibandha, Bangladesh on February 23, 2016. Everyday they have earned less USD $1 (Taka. 70) after work 10 hours a day. Gaibandha area in Bangladesh which is affected by flood throughout the monsoon season each year. The char areas have some of the highest levels of poverty in the country. Chili is the main cash crop in the area and mostly women are engaged in its production and processing along with their regular unpaid care work. Women in this area have limited or no access to markets or finance; they have less bargaining power and limited income.
