Farmers ploughing the earth with bullocks near the first bend of the Yangtze River (the river is seen in the background). The river is set to flood with a big dam planned for Tiger Leaping Gorge located above the first bend. One of Yunnan's greatest tourist attractions, the dam will destroy much of Tiger leaping Gorge, as well as thousands of acres of fertile farming land along the river's banks. Having lived there for thousands of years, these farmers are reluctant to leave. Beijing has proposed they move to the dry arid land that occupies the top of surrounding mountains.
