Thesamples which number from 1 to 8 were taken from pit iSTo. 4, and those whichnumber from 9 to 12 from pit Xo. 5. These samples should give a rea-sona1)lyaccurate idea of the average of the ore over the width sampled. The size of tlicsample trench was 2l/> inches wide and % inch deep. See jtage 230.
