Telemachus refuses the crown and scepter of Cretan; Adventures of Telemachus. After Idomeneus, king of Crete, was driven by his people, the people decided to go to a new king. When Telemachus had arrived at Crete, it was decided that he had to become the new king of Crete. The performance shows an amid male man who offers Telemachus a crown and a scepter. Telemachus refuses to adopt both objects. The illustration is made for the story from book 5 from Telemachus' adventures, written by François de Fénélon.
