An Illinois Central steam locomotive, #1518, a 2-8-2, Mikado class, on display at the Paducah Railroad Museum. The locomotive was built by the Lima Locomotive Works in 1923. It was the last steam locomotive operated by the Illinois Central and during much of its service was assigned to coal trains in Kentucky. The museum is dedicated to the history of railroading in Paducah and to railroads that served the city. The facility is open by appointment only, but does have equipment on display outside the museum's building.
