The preparations for the infants bath are important, andmust be made with care. The articles needed are: an infantsbath-tub, which may be a small foot-tub resting on a chair orlow table, or, preferably, a rubber tub supported on a woodenframe of sufficient height to prevent unnecessary stooping ( Fig. 140.—Folding rubber bath-tub. (Davis.) 140); a double wash-basin (Fig. 141), with one compartmentfor the face sponge and water and the other for the body spongeand water; white castile soap of good quality; two sponges ofdifferent sizes, the larger for the body and the smaller for theneck and ears; a soft wash-cloth for the face and head; babypowder of good quality in two boxes with puffs, one for thebuttocks and groin and the other for the neck and armpits; twopitchers of water, one hot and one cold; a table with baby basket PREPARATIONS FOR THE BATH. 275 and scales; a rack for the infants clothing placed near thesource of heat to warm the garments; a cup of warm boric acid
